Psygnosis South West
aka The Wheelhaus (branding used on several games), Psygnosis Stroud, Psygnosis Stonehouse
Psygnosis South West was one of Psygnosis' satellite studios, located in The Wheelhouse at Bond's Mill in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, England. (Stonehouse is a town located near the town of Stroud in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire in South West England.) The original staff consisted of former members of MicroProse UK (which was also in Gloucestershire) including the studio's founder Simon Gardner. [1] After it was shut down [2], former Psygnosis South West staff set up a new studio for Acclaim called Acclaim Studios Stroud. [3] (One media outlet at the time reported that Acclaim bought the Stroud studio from Psygnosis. [4]) According to programmer David Jones, some staff stayed on to complete G-Police: Weapons of Justice for a bonus, then went over to the new Acclaim studio. (Retro Gamer 185 [5]) (Acclaim Studios Stroud likely became Acclaim Studios Cheltenham.)
