Technology Associates was a consulting firm founded in 1981 by Joe Jacobs, an engineer at the Jerrold cable television division of General Instrument, which developed the PlayCable service for the Intellivision. Jacobs and a colleague, Dennis Clark, figured out how to develop games for the console in their off-hours and wrote a Pac-Man clone called Clone-Man as a demonstration. They showed it to Mattel Electronics and eventually secured a deal to develop a game for the Intellivision. [1]
