::Ah, OK; was just curious, thanks. And I knew about the Data East thing; I'd noticed that before even stumbling across this page. Anyone know which sound engine is used in Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair? I'm assuming Shinichi Sakamoto, since he did the arcade game's music, but want to make completely sure. The reason is that I have a sneaking suspicion that it was stolen for a number of unlicensed games by Taiwanese developer Gamtec-- in particular, the 1-up sound effect in Squirrel King is identical to a power-up sound in Wonder Boy 3, and Smart Mouse uses WB3's end-of-level jingle almost verbatim. --Codeman38 06:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm being told by Dimitri that Monster Lair uses SMPS. Also worth noting is that a lot of unlicensed games use one of the Data East drivers. CRV 07:57, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
