SRD Co., Ltd. (株式会社SRD; short for "Systems Research & Development") is a contract game and web system developer that has maintained a close relationship with Nintendo since the 1980s. In addition to programming many of Nintendo's games, the company was also involved in the back end system development of the eShop service. [1]

SRD was originally established in January 1979 in Osaka. Its primary business for years was the development and sale of CAD software. However, further CAD development ended with the release of AutoMECH LT2017. [2]

In 2013, SRD became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SRD Holdings, and the head office moved to Kyoto. [3] The company's Kyoto development office was already located, and is still located, at Nintendo's head office development building.
