Developer Resources was founded in February 1991 by Kevin Seghetti and Scott Statton with financial assistance from Erik Anderson. The main purpose of the company was to create game development systems for use with the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Super Famicom/Super NES.

Developer Resources was started while Seghetti was working SMS Rampart (subcontracted to him by RazorSoft) and fell apart while he was working on MD Pigskin Footbrawl in 1992.
