I've been doing research into Hitoshi Sakimoto's Terpsichorean, and I have found that it appears that Gauntlet IV does not actually use Terpsichorean; the sound is almost entirely handled by the 68k, and the Z80 code does not resemble Terpsichorean at all. I'm not sure the best way to change the list as I don't know what it's really using, and I don't know where that information originally came from (it's in the very first incarnation of this page, essentially). --[[User:Trap15|trap15]] ([[User talk:Trap15|talk]]) 10:09, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

::Thanks, it looks like he likely includes the Driver credit on games where Terpsichorean was ported by others to the platform, so it's possible that this is just a 68k-based Terpsichorean. I will probably look into whether the data is the same and decide how to update the table. What exactly is the meaning of "banked" in this list? Surely it can't mean "uses the Z80 banking" since it's nearly mandatory? Right now, at least 3 games (A Ressha de Ikou MD, Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi) are incorrectly listed as SMPS. They all use the same sound data format, but Revenge of Shinobi uses a slightly older version with a file header more similar to SMPS.
Revenge of Shinobi also uses the standard SMPS 68k DAC driver, the other 2 games use a custom one.<br />
Does anyone have an idea what we should do with them?

Anyone know which sound engine is used in ''Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair''? I'm assuming Shinichi Sakamoto, since he did the arcade game's music, but want to make completely sure. The reason is that I have a sneaking suspicion that it was stolen for a number of unlicensed games by Taiwanese developer Gamtec-- in particular, the 1-up sound effect in Squirrel King is identical to a power-up sound in Wonder Boy 3, and Smart Mouse uses WB3's end-of-level jingle almost verbatim. --[[User:Codeman38|Codeman38]] 06:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
