ADK Corporation (株式会社エーディーケイ) was established in July 1980 as Alpha Denshi Co., Ltd. (アルファ電子株式会社). It changed names in 1992. Kazuo Arai (新井一夫) was the president. As of 2001, Kazuo Arai, SNK, Mitsui & Co., and CSK Electronics were stockholders. Miraisoft (有限会社未来ソフト) and Alphasoft (アルファソフト株式会社) were affiliate companies [1] (located in the same building).

ADK eventually went bankrupt, and the business was transferred to a company called Phonecast. [2]

The Neo Geo hardware was designed by ADK [3]'s Eiji Fukatsu [4] [5], an improvement on the 68000-based hardware used for games like Time Soldiers. [6]
