Visual Art Laboratory (abbreviated in branding as VAL) was a game development subsidiary of the Japanese marketing and design company Taki Kobo.
The studio was established at some point prior to 1998, and operated until an unspecified point in either the year 1999 or 2000. In its brief period of operation, its software output was directed by Yuto Tanno (丹野有人), leading a team of eight other employees. The two titles they produced for the Sony PlayStation (Battle Master in 1998, and Acid in 1999) represent the sum of their output, before parent company Taki Kobo ended their game development ventures. A resign of the Taki.co.jp website in 2001 served to purge all evidence of their having been involved in the games industry, likely due to the critical and commercial failure of both products.
