Not to be confused with Brother's Takeru software vending service

Takeru Co., Ltd. (株式会社タケル) was a game publisher and developer based in Taito, Tokyo. [1] It also sold accessories such as AC adapters and RF switches. Staff included industry veterans Kouichi Yotsui (Strider), Akira Kitamura (Mega Man and Mega Man 2), Shinichi Yoshimoto (Ghouls 'n Ghosts), and Utata Kiyoshi (Metal Storm). Many employees left for Mitchell after the company became financially unstable. [2] Products were sold under the Sur Dé Wave (シュールド・ウェーブ) brand. Evidence suggests Takeru was eventually renamed Sur Dé Wave Co., Ltd. (株式会社シュールド・ウェーブ). [3]

The company allegedly went bankrupt in January 1994. [4] According to Koichi Yotsui, Takeru was "originally a company that made toy stores." [5]
