Found right in the ROM text. The ROM text also goes directly to the SPC file whenever you dump a SPC of any of these games. I actually think this is the official Nintendo Sound driver, just because of how wide of a variety of games they are used in.

SOUND MANAGER ver 1.00 (Eurhythm)

  • Honkaku Mahjong Tetsuman 2
  • Shodankurai Nintei - Shodan Pro Mahjong

Found right in the ROM text. There are two main variations, and they sometimes contains other pieces of ROM text next to or before this piece of text. Besides the Ver Sx driver, this one is one of the most common sound drivers used.
Opus has a way of handling the sound driver by using something called sndmnger, which basically handles commands and sends them over to DBOOT, which is in a separate code block of its own.

  • Great Battle V
  • J.League '96 Dream Stadium
  • J.League Super Soccer '95
  • Super Bonk

Found right in the ROM text. The ROM text also goes directly to the SPC file whenever you dump a SPC of any of these games.

Masakatsu Maekawa/Music Worx

Variation 1

  • Super Power League

Variation 2

Variation 5

  • Super Kyoutei 2
  • Super Power League 3

Variation 6

  • Super Power League 4

Found right in the ROM text. The ROM text also goes directly to the SPC file whenever you dump a SPC of any of these games. The variations of this are in the ROM text:

(Variation #1) Copyright 1992,93 now production Created by SENKAN Kiyoshi
(Variation #2) Created By SENKAN Kiyoshi, 1992,93
(Variation #3) (C)SENKAN Kiyoshi
(Variation #4) MASAKATSU_MAEKAWA
(Variation #5) (C) MUSIC WORX
(Variation #6) KIYOSI

Code comparisons have not quite been performed for any differences between the sound drivers with different pieces of ROM text... yet. However, there is a key difference between variations 1-2 and variations 3-6. Variations 3-6 have the ROM text right in the SPC files, while variations 1-2 don't.

Malibu SNES Sound Driver

  • Firearm

Found right in the ROM text. The ROM text also goes directly to the SPC file whenever you dump a SPC of any of these games. Considering it's by Tim Follin and Mike Follin, I'm guessing that the sound driver was never used in an officially released game.

Michel Winogradoff

  • Best of the Best: Championship Karate
  • International Tennis Tour
  • Winter Extreme Skiing & Snowboarding

This is based off of the musical data, which is real MIDI.

Music/FX by Probe Software

Eastridge Technology/Nick Eastridge

  • Chessmaster
  • Great Waldo Search
  • Incredible Crash Dummies
  • James Bond Jr
  • Miracle Piano Teaching System
  • Paperboy 2
  • Pit Fighter
  • Relief Pitcher
  • Ren & Stimpy Veediots
  • Steel Talons
  • The Terminator
  • Wayne's World

All of the above have A9 56 8D 40 21 in the ROM (or 8F 40 21 00 instead of 8D 40 21). Then they have a variable that is manually updated on cue by being incremented by a certain amount, and then gets sent over to $2140. The games that do have staff rolls mostly credit Peter Stone as a composer.

Peter Stone told me he didn't do most of these games (Paperboy 2 was probably done by someone in-house at Tengen, Pit Fighter, Relief Pitcher). Scott Marshall said he didn't actually work on Steel Talons but his music is used in it and that Nick must have arranged his music. I think Relief Pitcher was actually Nick because it doesn't sound like the composer knew what they were doing. I think the game B.O.B. is Eastridge's sound engine too or David Whittaker's. Both of their sound engines use the same Korg instruments, so it's hard to tell. If B.O.B. was Eastridge, then he must have updated his driver because it's the only game where SPC files can be dumped with his engine.--Doommaster1994 (talk) 08:29, 1 June 2013 (CEST)

B.O.B. uses N-SPC. KungFuFurby (talk) 00:51, 12 January 2016 (CET)

Found right in the ROM text. The ROM text also goes directly to the SPC file whenever you dump a SPC of any of these games. I actually think this is the official Nintendo Sound driver, just because of how wide of a variety of games they are used in.

?

The following games came up in a code comparison but don't have a shared developer. Shared sound driver?

Acrobat Mission, Battle Submarine, Bing Bing! Bingo, Civilization, Galaxy Robo, Gekitotsu Dangan Jidousha Kessen - Battle Mobile, Heiwa Pachinko World, Hokuto no Ken 5-7, Keiba Yosou Baken Renkinjutsu, Koutetsu no Kishi 1 & 2, Paladin's Quest/Lennus, Maka Maka, Matsumura Kuni Hiroden, Raiden Trad, Super Air Diver/Lock On, Super Air Diver 2, Super Baken Ou '95, Super Wrestle Angels, Wondrous Magic

These are for the most part Mint/Masahiro Kusunoki/Kazuya Suyama games, and I can safely say they appear to share something sound driver-related. When the tune triggers, $103 in the SPC file should be set to 01 for the best result when starting a piece of music. Otherwise, the tunes could trip at the start. Well, well, well! Time sure flies, and I've discovered precisely why these came up in the comparison. Super Wrestle Angels is not a match. The rest of these? After looking them up myself, I've determined that they seem to be a match, although I have yet to sort them out by version. KungFuFurby (talk)

You'll typically find EndSoundCode stored in the SPC files as a text signature. That's not always the case, as I've indicated above.
