Park Place Productions (originally Park Place Production Team) was a development company near San Diego, California, United States [1], started by Michael Knox and Troy Lyndon in 1989 [2] with $3,000 and a credit card. [3] It eventually grew to be North America's largest game development company. [4] However, by 1994, Park Place was experiencing financial problems. Further compounding matters, Sony Imagesoft opened up a studio nearby and hired a number of former Park Place employees. [5]

Originally a Park Place publishing label, Spirit of Discovery became its own corporate entity in 1994 and relocated to Kaneohe, Hawaii. [6] Sports Forum appears to be another label that was to be used on 3D Football for 3DO.
