KAZe Co., Ltd. (株式会社カゼ) was established on November 15, 1990. [1] It was headed by Junichiro Kawazoe (河副純一郎), a former company director at record firm and game publisher Meldac. [2] The chief development director was Norio Nakagata (中潟憲雄), previously a composer at Namco, until he left in 2002 to start Digifloyd. Other staff led by artist Masakazu Shimizu (清水将和) left the same year to start Bitstep. Digital Pinball series designer Takashi Kobayashi (小林孝志) ran a company called Watermarks (The Book of Watermarks). Other staff, including Digital Pinball staffers Kazunori Nanji (南治一徳), Ichiro Shibata (柴田一郎), and Hiromi Seino (清野博美) left ca. 1999 to form Bomber eXpress/BeXide.

At some point, KAZe Net was started (perhaps it was originally Live Planning?), which provided various services in the business and entertainment fields such as the development of online games and web site development. [3] KAZe and KAZe Net co-existed, with KAZe focused on developing console games [4] [5], but the latter essentially succeeded the former. (KAZe was still listed as an affiliated company on the English KAZe Net site. [6])

KAZe had an office in Los Angeles, KAZe of America, operated by KAZe producer/production manager Emi Akimoto. [7] [8]
