Falcon Co., Ltd. (ファルコン株式会社) is a development company established in December 1988 [1] by husband and wife Kazuhiko Ito (伊藤和彦) and Midori Ito (伊藤みどり). They met while he was a programmer at Micro Cabin and she worked at Yamaha's MSX division. [2] [3] Midori is the company president. [4]

Falcon was once based in Nishikasugai District, Aichi Prefecture (in what is now part of the city of Kitanagoya), near Nagoya, and had a development office in Osaka. [5] Falcon's last known head office was in Iwakura, Aichi Prefecture [6], but the building is now occupied by another business. The Falcon website no longer lists a physical address.

As of October 2010, Falcon has worked on the following platforms: MSX2 (7 titles), PC-8801 (1), PC-9801 (10), FM Towns (5), J-3100 (3), X68000 (6), Macintosh (2), Windows (38), X55 (2), PC Engine CD-ROM² (6), PC Engine HuCard (1), Game Boy (5), Game Boy Color (2), Famicom (2), Super Famicom (8), PlayStation (16), PlayStation 2 (18), PlayStation 3 (1), PlayStation Portable (1), Game Gear (2), Sega Saturn (9), Dreamcast (6), i-appli (1), embedded software (9). [7]

Falcon co-owns the Thinking Rabbit properties, namely the puzzle game Sokoban and its series of adventure games. [8] Falcon previously worked on at least four Thinking Rabbit games.

Tierheit (ティールハイト) was a brand name once used by Falcon. [9] [10]

Programmer Hiroshi Makabe tweeted that the Windows version of Lunar: Silver Star Story was originally being developed by Tierheit, but the code was like "spaghetti" — a mixture of Mega CD, Saturn, PlayStation, and Win32 code. Makabe was brought in to try to fix it. [17] [18] (Makabe and two others, and the company EJ, are credited in the final game. [19])
