Opus Inc. (株式会社オーパス; formerly known in English as Opus Corp. and Opus Studio Inc.) was established on March 6, 1990. Takayuki Suzuki (鈴木隆志) was the CEO. [1] Suzuki was previously part of the sound team Goblin Sound; Opus continued to do the same kind of sound production work as Goblin Sound, but did more and more game development as time went on. The company also developed middleware and tools for use in game development. [2] In its later years, Opus developed "AI services" such as the Machine Heads test automation tool and an AI matching service. [3]

Opus filed for bankruptcy on April 4, 2024. The reason given for the filing was COVID and the subsequent restrictions on operating hours, which led to a sales slump. [4]

Opus had a sister company called Opus System that developed a bubble removal system. Opus started a game studio with New called Tranji Studio. Opus Studio also appears to have been related.
